CHINESE FOOD!
This post is the fourth in a series of “what we did for Chanukah 2019” that I have really just written for myself (and my family)… but if you want to read it, you can too! Here’s a link to all of the posts for 2019’s holiday.
For the fourth night of Hanukkah 2019 (however you want to spell it! lol), we went out for Chinese food (as an entire family [minus Colescott :-(]) at our favorite vegan Chinese restaurant! Of course it was Christmas Day (12/25) —AND my late mother’s birthday – so there were many reasons to go out for Chinese food – but we do have a family tradition of going out for Chinese food at least one night for Chanukah each year!
… and that was it… that was my present for the whole family. The kids had a blast (mostly) and there was a LOT of laughter. I got an FABULOUS fortune in my fortune cookie (see below). Charlie was actually pretty upset (he currently “hates Chinese food”, and “didn’t want to be there” and went out into the parking lot screaming obscenities a few times) – but that’s actually what we normally have to deal with on a daily basis with him… it’s just a matter of strategic planning (and bribery — I had to bribe him to try a few new things to eat to make sure he ended up with food in his belly by the end of the night). Since in the end – predictably unpredictably (“let’s spin the giant wheel and see where we land!”) – he didn’t actually eat much of anything, we stopped at a fast food restaurant (hey — on Christmas Day there aren’t that many choices!) and got him a milkshake on the way home. #Sigh #AtLeastWeTried.:-)
Chinese food out for five people is a pretty big splurge for us, so that was the one present for everyone! After dinner, we came home and lit the candles and then went to bed (in short order) after watching a couple of episodes of “What’s My Line” on YouTube!
