When tested with an XRF instrument this Sango teacup (made in Japan) had the following readings:
1) Test focused on silver banding on handle:
- Lead (Pb): Negative / Non-Detect
- Mercury (Hg): Negative / Non-Detect
- Cadmium (Cd): Negative / Non-Detect
- Arsenic (As): Negative / Non-Detect
- Antimony (Sb): Negative / Non-Detect
- Gold (Au): 755 +/- 64 ppm
- Zinc (Zn): 37 +/- 17 ppm
- Iron (Fe): 3,717 +/- 261 ppm
- Bismuth (Bi): 100 +/- 16 ppm
- Vanadium (V): 99 +/- 22 ppm
- Titanium (Ti): 132 +/- 28 ppm
- Palladium (Pd): 20 +/- 4 ppm
- Platinium (Pt): 265 +/- 50 ppm
2) Test focused on plain white are of exterior of cup:
- Lead (Pb): 20 +/- 8 ppm
- Mercury (Hg): Negative / Non-Detect
- Cadmium (Cd): Negative / Non-Detect
- Arsenic (As): Negative / Non-Detect
- Antimony (Sb): Negative / Non-Detect
- Barium (Ba): 1,607 +/- 220 ppm
- Nickel (Ni): 47 +/- 18
- Iron (Fe): 2,030 +/- 93 ppm
- Bismuth (Bi): 102 +/- 13 ppm
3) Test focused on silver colored edging on outside of lip of cup:
- Lead (Pb): 910 +/- 39 ppm
- Mercury (Hg): Negative / Non-Detect
- Cadmium (Cd): Negative / Non-Detect
- Arsenic (As): 134 +/- 28 ppm
- Antimony (Sb): Negative / Non-Detect
- Barium (Ba): 2,231 +/- 262 ppm
- Zinc (Zn): 105 +/- 21 ppm
- Nickel (Ni): 33 +/- 21
- Iron (Fe): 1,794 +/- 98 ppm
- Bismuth (Bi): 93 +/- 20 ppm
4) Test focused on yellow & black back mark:
- Lead (Pb): 2,323 +/- 68 ppm
- Mercury (Hg): Negative / Non-Detect
- Cadmium (Cd): Negative / Non-Detect
- Arsenic (As): 292 +/- 45 ppm
- Antimony (Sb): Negative / Non-Detect
- Barium (Ba): 869 +/- 223 ppm
- Zinc (Zn): 331 +/- 26 ppm
- Nickel (Ni): 35 +/- 19
- Iron (Fe): 2,633 +/- 114 ppm
- Bismuth (Bi): 60 +/- 27 ppm

Each test was done using a freshly calibrated XRF instrument in “Consumer Goods” mode. Testing was repeated on each component to confirm the results. Testing time for each component was for at least 60 seconds. Results are replicable, science-based, and accurate. Metals not listed in the above test results sets were not detected by the XRF when testing in Consumer Goods mode.
