Ugh. One of my first jobs out of college was as a rep on the Welfare Fraud and Collection line.
My God.
If there is a way to lose one’s faith in humanity quicker, I don’t know of it.
I’d get hundreds of calls a day from people ratting out their “neighbor on welfare” and most of the claims were laughable at best, just plain mean at worst. I would say less that 2% of the complaints I got were legitimate. (Ask me about the guy raising alligators in his basement.)
WHERE I AM GOING WITH THIS:
That is a horrible thing to happen to you. The gross ignorance, pettiness, and just plain mean-spirited attitude of people never fails to astound me. (And as someone who’s worked retail and customer service most of her life, if I have not seen/heard it all, I have dome DANG CLOSE.)
I hope this works out for you and your family. Seems like only the people who are genuinely trying to do good in the world are the ones who get in trouble.
All I can say is your accusers are gonna feel reeeeeeeeeally stupid when you’re proven innocent.
Hang in there. <3
The charges were dropped in full in May of 2018. They then tried to pursue me on an administrative basis for the same allegations and we also disproved those allegations with solid evidence presented by two forensic bookkeepers and an attorney… This goes so far beyond a neighbor asserting these allegations (which would have been bad enough), but stems from bad actors in the Department of Justice trying to find me guilty of crimes I did not commit (since the complaints started with them and the allegations of welfare fraud started with them )- even after they knew I was innocent of the allegations (after they confirmed having received all of the supporting documentation – 2300 pages + – from a full investigative IRS audit which clearly demonstrated I was innocent of the allegations – in that my family was below the poverty line during the years in question!)
#Sigh.
For more of the details click through and read the full lawsuit, it is a real page turner!
