Mikasa “Potters Art” Ben Seibel Country Cabin Design (Made in Japan) Ceramic Dish: 76 ppm Lead. Safe by all standards.

When tested with an XRF instrument this Mikasa ceramic plate had the following readings (scroll down to see additional images):

Brown glazed ceramic center of food surface of dish:

  • Lead (Pb): 48 +/- 16 ppm
  • Barium (Ba): 251 +/- 62 ppm
  • Zinc (Zn): 32,200 +/- 900 ppm
  • Copper (Cu): 152 +/- 46 ppm
  • Iron (Fe): 14,700 +/- 600 ppm
  • Titanium (Ti): 14,300 +/- 600 ppm
  • Zirconium (Zr): 6,788 +/- 206 ppm

Orange glazed food surface edge of dish:

  • Lead (Pb): 57 +/- 15 ppm
  • Barium (Ba): 1,608 +/- 86 ppm
  • Chromium (Cr): 4,344 +/- 208 ppm
  • Zinc (Zn): 25,500 +/- 700 ppm
  • Iron (Fe): 10,500 +/- 500 ppm
  • Vanadium (V): 2,685 +/- 158 ppm
  • Titanium (Ti): 8,300 +/- 376 ppm
  • Zirconium (Zr): 2,919 +/- 88 ppm

Logo area on back of dish:

  • Lead (Pb): 76 +/- 16 ppm
  • Barium (Ba): 270 +/- 59 ppm
  • Zinc (Zn): 31,700 +/- 800 ppm
  • Copper (Cu): 153 +/- 44 ppm
  • Iron (Fe): 14,800 +/- 600 ppm
  • Vanadium (V): 254 +/- 105 ppm
  • Titanium (Ti): 14,600 +/- 600 ppm
  • Zirconium (Zr): 6,742 +/- 193 ppm

Each test was done using a freshly calibrated XRF instrument in “consumer goods” mode. Testing was repeated on each component to confirm the results. Testing time for each component was for at least 60 seconds. Results are replicable, science-based and accurate. Metals not listed in the above test results set were not detected by the XRF when testing in consumer goods mode.
