The Sussex Royal account on Instagram (Prince Harry + Meghan) is using the month of August 2019 to highlight the work of 15 change-makers by following only those change-makers’ accounts for the remainder of the month of August starting on Monday. They have unfollowed everyone else and will be adding only these 15 new accounts, based on the nominations from their followers on Instagram.
I rarely ask for a nomination – but this will be one of those times. It is a simple thing (and free!) for you to tag @LeadSafeMama as your nomination on their post and – if we are chosen – it could expand the impact of the work we do here quite significantly.
So far year to date (8/2/2019 – 4:45 p.m.) this blog has been read by more than 1,278,463 people in 215+ “countries” (based on numbers from Google Analytics). Imagine how many more people we could reach with this important information for protecting their families if we got a boost like this on Instagram – which I just started figuring out how to use BTW!

Why do you want to connect with the Royals, Tamara?
For those who have been following my advocacy work for many years, you know that I have always wanted to meet with Prince Harry and Prince William to discuss the issue of Childhood Lead Poisoning. Given the fact that a huge number of Lead poisoning cases are caused by functional original Lead-painted windows in historic homes (some experts estimate that as much as 90% of childhood Lead Poisoning cases are from dust created by original functional windows), I have been interested in potentially meeting with the Princes and their partners ever since I saw the first picture of Prince George at the window of their ancient palace – a picture very much like the one above of Prince George with his siblings!
I would love the opportunity to meet with these two young families in their homes (as I have done with countless families all over the United States) – for even just 10 minutes – and show them how an XRF works and test just a few of their things for Lead (Yikes! Can you imagine? Just think of the classic vintage and antique English china they must own!!!)
You, my readers, know what the opportunity of meeting with Harry and Meghan (and William and Kate) might create for a significant shift in the world – raising awareness about Lead in consumer goods and Lead in house paint (and the dangers of renovation without safe work practices) to a whole new level. Maybe this would finally be the connection that brings international attention to the issue of modern glass baby bottles still being manufactured and sold with Lead painted decorative elements!
So while the chance of the SussexRoyal account choosing the @LeadSafeMama account to follow on Instagram is remote and (even if they did choose to follow @LeadSafeMama) the possibility that they would later invite me to come visit and teach them about Lead exposure and the impact on young children (like how my children have been impacted) is even more unlikely… it’s still fun to try. #LifeGoals
So – in the off-chance that with your help any of this could happen – please do take two seconds. Pop over to the post linked below and here and nominate @LeadSafeMama to be chosen as a “Force For Change” this August by tagging @LeadSafeMama in a comment on their instagram post (before Monday!) Thank you.
If you feel like leaving a personal comment, that would be lovely too. Please scroll down to see some of the comments that my readers and friends have already left on this post in support of my work.
As always, thank you for everything. Thank you especially for taking the time to read and share about my work.

For the month of August we look to you for help. We want to know who YOUR Force for Change is…. Each month, we change the accounts we follow to highlight various causes, people or organisations doing amazing things for their communities and the world at large.
Over the next few days please add your suggestions into the comments section: someone you look up to, the organisation doing amazing work that we should all be following, an account that inspires you to be and do better (or that simply makes you feel good), or the handle that brims with optimism for a brighter tomorrow.
We will choose 15 accounts and follow them next Monday, as we spend the month of August acknowledging the Forces for Change in all of our lives.
