Join the Australia Lead Safe Mamas Facebook group to help Tamara coordinate a trip to Australia sometime in the next year or two!
Over the past year or so I have become very present to the fact that I have more readers in Australia than in most other places on the planet! Per the Google Analytics graphic below, nearly 34% of my readers in the past 30 days have been from Australia!

As a result, I started the Australia Lead Safe Mamas Facebook group – and in that group we are having chats about possibly creating a month (or two) -long Lead Safe Mama outreach event tour of Australia – so I can meet many of my friends and readers “down under” in person and get to know the country and the particular concerns better.
If we are able to coordinate this trip, we would work to bring free blood Lead testing and free consumer goods testing with us. We would also hold community conversations and film screenings wherever we can along our journey!
The most important thing in coordinating a trip like this would be to find one or more hosting agencies.
Typically, my outreach events are hosted by: hospitals; Public Health Departments (State, County or City); teaching hospitals; universities; private or public high schools; birthing centers; maternity clinics; medical clinics; daycare centers, and others.
In addition to finding a sponsor or two to host some events and help cover the cost of the events, to help make this happen I would need the following things covered, too:
- Airfare [for myself, and a boy or two — because of their disabilities, my youngest sons often need to come with me when I travel (on longer trips especially)]
- Ground Transportation (an RV perhaps? for an Epic trip!)
- Help coordinating and securing event locations and sponsors (volunteers or paid help).
- Help coordinating any license or permitting required to have an XRF available for free consumer goods testing.

The Australia Lead Safe Mamas group was first and foremost started to be a local Australia-focused Lead poisoning prevention outreach group made up of parents and others from Australia – to hopefully discuss local laws, regulations and other considerations and concerns around the issue. If you live in Australia please join the group — regardless of whether or not you have any time or energy to help coordinate outreach events!
