When tested with an XRF instrument the glass pictured here (Clear Conique Luminarc 7 oz Ladybug Juice Glass – purchased at New Seasons Market in May of 2019) had the following readings.
Focus on red painted lady bug:
- Barium (Ba):1,192 +/- 266 ppm
- Copper (Cu): 50 +/- 22 ppm
- Iron (Fe): 116 +/- 46 ppm
Metals not listed were not detected.
Tests results are replicable and were done for a minimum of 60 seconds each.
Test done on the clear (undecorated) part of the bottom of the glass:
- Zinc (Zn): 33 +/- 14 ppm
- Iron (Fe): 198 +/- 99 ppm
- Vanadium (V): 84 +/- 25 ppm
- Titanium (Ti): 465 +/- 52 ppm
I expected this to test positive for either Lead or Cadmium (because the ladybug is raised and can be felt with your finger when you run your finger over the glass) so I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this was negative for Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Antimony and Arsenic.
