Unmarked Ceramic Pink Glazed Bowl with Honey Comb Pattern: 76 ppm Cadmium

This bowl does not have any mark or maker, sorry I don’t have more information about it. When tested with an XRF instrument it had the following readings…

Pink Glazed Exterior:
(Each test done for at least 60 seconds. Tests done multiple times to confirm any results where toxicants were present.)

  • Lead (Pb): Non-Detect / Negative
  • Mercury (Hg): Non-Detect / Negative
  • Arsenic (As): Non-Detect / Negative
  • Cadmium (Cd): 76 +/- 12 ppm
  • Barium (Ba): 1,838 +/- 111 ppm
  • Chromium (Cr): Non-Detect / Negative
  • Antimony (Sb): Non-Detect / Negative
  • Selenium (Se): Non-Detect / Negative
  • Zinc (Zn): 10,400 +/- 400 ppm
  • Copper (Cu): 356 +/- 61 ppm
  • Iron (Fe): 905 +/- 192 ppm
  • Vanadium (V): 3,523 +/- 177 ppm
  • Titanium (Ti): 7,127 +/- 347 ppm
  • Zirconium (Zr): 12,000 +/- 400 ppm
  • Platinum (Pt): 200 +/- 91 ppm

Many red or pink (or even orange) glazed modern ceramics will test positive for some level of Cadmium, as the Cadmium is used for a colorant. To learn more about the concerns for Cadmium in dishware (and in consumer goods in general), Click HERE.
