This hammer was tested in 2017, however I do not know the year of manufacture or vendor. My husband confirmed that he purchased these at Harbor Freight a few years ago.
One thing this hammer demonstrates is that “Made In China” doesn’t necessarily translate to “high-Lead”, although I’m not too keen on Arsenic in my hammers either (especially if kids are playing with these things!) At least the handle (the part that is touched the most) is free of the worst heavy metals (Lead, Arsenic, Cadmium and Mercury.)
When tested with an XRF instrument these hammers were positive for:
- Lead (Pb): (in the yellow part of the handle): 45 ppm
- Arsenic (As): (in the yellow part of the handle): 174 ppm
- The rubberized part of the handles were Lead-free and Arsenic-free!

As always, if you have any questions please let me know!
Sincerely,
Tamara Rubin
