#LeadFree: Straus Family Creamery Reusable Glass Milk Bottle

Straus Family Creamery (in Marin County, California) managed to do what other creameries have not managed to do somehow… the black paint on their new (2018) reusable glass bottles is negative for lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) when tested with an XRF instrument!
The great thing that this demonstrates is that it is actually possible to use a lead-free and cadmium free alternative paints on these bottles – and that begs the question.. if we CAN create bottles with lead-free paint why isn’t everyone doing it?
Here’s a link to other milk bottles that I have tested.
As always, if you have any questions, please let me know!
Sincerely,
Tamara Rubin

Yeh!
That is great news!
Crazy !
What about the ones with red writing?
I buy Grass Root Dairies grass-fed only, non-homogenized milk from cows with the A2 protein from Whole Foods in Vancouver BC. There is green paint on the outside of the bottle and so I’m wondering if you might look into this particular milk bottle. I just went on to their website and am pleased with the information they give about their products. It is clear they really want to help people which leads me to believe they would be open to changing the green paint they use on their bottles IF lead were found in it. On another one of your pages you shared a company whose labeling IS lead-free, so sharing that information with Grass Root Dairies would likely make them even more willing to make the change if lead is found in the paint on their bottles. Here is their website: https://www.grassrootdairies.com/
