This little Christmas snowman teapot tested positive for Lead (Pb) at 30,200 +/- 900 ppm.
The year of manufacture is unknown. This item was tested in 2018 with an XRF instrument.
Full XRF Reading (Toxicants):
- Lead (Pb): 30,200 +/- 900 ppm
- Cadmium (Cd): Non-Detect (ND/negative)
- Arsenic (As): Non-Detect (ND/negative)
- Mercury (Hg): Non-Detect (ND/negative)

For context: Current standards state that the amount of Lead considered toxic in an item intended to be used by children is 90 ppm Lead (or higher) in the glaze or coating and 100 ppm Lead (or higher) in the substrate (in the case of teapots or mugs, this would mean the base ceramic).
It’s hard to imagine that this little teapot was not intended for use by children.
