2018 Sur La Table “Made In Turkey” Bistro Pattern Dish Set: Lead-free, Cadmium-free, Arsenic-free, Mercury-free.
Sur La Table – Bistro pattern dishes
This set of new (2018) white “Bistro” pattern dishes from Sur La Table (& Made in Turkey) had the following test results when tested with an XRF instrument.
XRF test results for the exact dishes pictured here:
- Lead (Pb): Non-detect / negative
- Cadmium (Cd): Non-detect / negative
- Arsenic (As): Non-detect / negative
- Mercury (Hg): Non-detect / negative
Note: Just because I tested something and reported the results here on this blog does not mean I recommend that product or products from that brand. Given inconsistencies with Sur La Table products (especially their ceramic products) combined with their historical (and current) use of high Lead glazes (even as recently as products made for the 2019 holiday season) I would NEVER recommend purchasing any products from Sur La Table. I simply don’t trust the brand.

Have you tested the coffee mug that goes with this set?
Is this set still safe in 2019?
Do you reccommended this set still? I noticed they claim 100% lead and cadium free in all their dinnerwear sets.
I never recommended this set. I would never recommend anything from Sur La Table. I always recommend AVOIDING Sur La Table. I would sooner recommend boycotting this brand than recommend any of their products. Just because I do a report on a specific dish with the XRF Test results does not mean I recommend it.

Ok my mistake. I was specifically looking at their bistro line and saw that they claimed lead and cadmium free, then I saw you tested this line as well. Why would you boycott them if you don’t mind me asking? Corelle has a line that is lead and cadmium free but don’t they have their color line that is not. I mean this with no disrespect just wondering.

Ok thank you for answering my questions! I appreciate what you do. I really am not a fan of Corelle but that seems to be the safest option.
Clear glass is good – you can get that at the Dollar store or there are a lot of options online:

Hello! I had done research and read through your site in late summer of 2019 and purchased this exact set “Bistro” from Sur La Table. But having come back to your sight so that I could add dishware to complement what I purchased, I see that you updated things in December of 2019 and are now saying to steer clear of this brand. I understand all of your reasoning and explanations. You are doing a good job trying to keep current, which appears to be very difficult in this industry. I am just wanting to clarify that the Bistro was a safe option in 2019? Thanks
