1) so my Facebook page is “unofficial” – okay? Unofficial what? How?
2) I did not make a claim that your products contain “elevated levels of cadmium” in fact I clearly stated the opposite … that the level of cadmium found is “safe by all standards.”
3) Gee whiz, jumping right to calling lawyers and trying to discredit my XRF testing? Instead of giving me a friendly call and asking questions? That’s super civil! My cell phone number is on my website and my facebook page. I’m easy to reach. Text me!
4) I recently confirmed with the makers of the instrument I use for testing (the Niton XL3T XRF, the same instrument used by the CPSC for consumer goods testing) that the consumer goods mode detects accurate low levels of the presence of cadmium.
5) I asked them follow up questions about detecting single and double digit levels of cadmium with a single digit margin of error. I explained that these were repeated 30 second tests with the same results each time. I asked if the results would be accurate on a silicone product and was told specifically yes, that they are very accurate on silicone and plastic substrates (when testing for cadmium at trace levels.)
6) #Sigh
7) The levels found in these menstrual cups (with two different colors tested and repeated tests on each cup done with the same results), are comparable to the levels we are consistently finding in most (but not all) silicone products – including other “medical grade” silicone products… like baby bottle nipples and sippy cup straws.
Friends: if you want to help make sure I can pay my lawyers (and therefore help me continue my independent consumer goods testing and advocacy work) please consider donating to my GoFundMe! Thank you!
