#LeadFree: New (2014) Duralex Picardie Glasses

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

These Duralex Picardie glasses were new (shipped to me for testing directly by the manufacturer) in 2014.  They tested negative for lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic and barium when tested with an XRF instrument. I love responsible companies who ship me stuff for testing directly!

Here are some Amazon affiliate links* to these exact glasses as well as a few other similar, modern Duralex (“Made in France”) lead-free glasses (#SaferChoices!):

I have also tested these http://amzn.to/2D33Wsj and you can click through to the Duralex category (using the keyword navigation tabs at the top of the post) to see the specific test results for each color shown below.

Would you like to see more test results like this? Please help me rent (or eventually buy!) an XRF instrument to continue this work. 1. Thank you for sharing! I was thinking of ordering these as casual wine glasses because I can’t seem to find/ trust that any decent wine glass brands are lead-free!! So many say un-leaded crystal but then still have 20% or more lead! So frustrating. If you have any stemmed wine glass recommendations that would be awesome, Thanks again!

    1. I know I’m replying to an old post but I was curious about the background info? I’d love to learn more about your so-called un-leaded crystal that turned out to have 20% lead: what brand, how you found out, what claims the manufacturer had made, etc. Thanks!

  2. I recently bought some clear Duralex drinking glasses. When they arrived they were a bit scratched. Does that mean that there might be lead leaking now or does lead free mean there is not lead at all in the Duralex products, scratched or not. Thank you.

    1. Lead free means they tested completely negative for lead (non-detect) when tested with an XRF instrument. Especially the clear ones – they are a terrific choice!

  3. I will gift these for you to test..I would LOVE to test THESE fun Duralex glasses to confirm that they are lead free as well!
http://amzn.to/2D33Wsj .Can I purchase on Amazon then have them shipped to you? If it makes it easier for you, you do not have to ship them back to me. If so, where should I have them shipped? Thank you for the help 🙂

    1. That would be terrific! Thank you. I will add them to my Amazon wish list and will post the link here in just a moment. The list automatically will incorporate my address for you to send them to me, and then when I get them and test them I will create a blog post with the results.

  4. Hello Tamara,
Sorry for the delay…I am trying to purchase these glasses to be sent to you. However, my address is the only address listed for shipping. How would you like me to proceed? Thank you for your help 🙂

    Blessings,
    Kimberly

  5. Ok…I figured it out! I can’t wait to see the results. I have three sons I would like to assign a color too to use for a drinking glass for the day. Thank you for testing 🙂

  6. Did you find titanium in these clear glasses? I see the colored versions have titanium, but hoping the clear version doesn’t? Thank you!

  7. do Duraliex Lys dinnerware plates, bowls, etc test completely negative for lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, barium and titanium?

    thank you

  8. Hi, pregnant woman here… I trust your test, Tamara, yet why does Walmart have a prop 65 warning for the Duralex picardie clear drinking glasses (link below)? I ordered these from your link a few months back, Tamara and was comparing sets to replace my mom’s kitchen items.

I’m wondering if the prop 65 warning posted for this on walmart.com is outdated or wondering what else could be in the glass to give a prop 65 warning. Any ideas? I’m contacting Walmart & Duralex also.

  10. Hi Jackie and Tamara,
At first THANK YOU for all your work keeping us healthy and educated!!
I’m wandering & waiting on your findings about these Duralex glasses made in Feance at Walmart? Any update regarding that prop 65 warning?!
    Smile for You,
    Jessie from Canada

  11. Hi there Tamara: I have some new Duralex, but also have some that are about 20 years old. Did the company tell you if their older (older than 2014) was lead, cadmium, arsenic, etc. free? I always thought it was but can’t remember why . I don’t remember if I wrote to the company back over 20 years ago. I just always purchased that glass and when the factory closed, I scrounged up whatever I could find. Now I’m wondering.

I could do a simple test with vinegar and the swabs. Do you think that would be productive?

    Thanks, Diane

    1. Any update about the prop 65 warning Tamara? I was buying those glasses.. now I’m not. Why to do?

    2. Thanks for all your work, Tamara! Just bumping this since it’s a lead warning about a product you tested, and it’s been more than a year since this comment (including the prop 65 warning for lead) was submitted. Hope all is well with you and your family.
