Mountain Valley Spring Water 5 Gallon Clear Glass Bottle (from their delivery service):
Non-Detect (negative!) for Lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd), Mercury (Hg) and Arsenic (As)!
I personally do not want jars that are positive for lead at any level, when I can choose lead-free jars and bottles.
Click these links to see other similar glass jars and glass bottles I have tested.
If you appreciate what I do, the simplest way you can help support my advocacy work at NO EXTRA COST to you is to click on the Amazon affiliate link ads to the right on this page (or on the bottom if you are on your phone!). If you click on any of the links before you start your Amazon shopping as you normally would, then Amazon sends me a percentage of whatever you spend (up to 12% in April!) – and you don’t even have to buy the items pictured! 😉
Also – when we reach $5,000 on my GoFundMe, Carissa and I are going to do another round of #GuerrillaXRFTesting at a store chosen by our followers (like the #GuerrillaXRFTesting we did at Target back in February!)
Happy shopping! & Thank you for your support! – Tamara

Have you ever trsted the ceramic or plastic (instant hot cold) dispensers? Any recommendations on a safe choice?

Hey Tamara, thanks for testing this glass 5 gallon bottle. I’m looking to purchase a glass 3 gallon bottle for my family to hold our drinking water, however i cannot find a link to purchase this specific Mountain Valley Spring Water 5 Gallon Bottle. I understand that it is part of their delivery service so might not be an option to purchase. However, if you have any recommendations as to which glass gallon bottles are lead free i would highly appreciate it. How do i go about sending you one to test?

Hello Tamara,
I too am looking to purchase a glass 3 or 5 gallon bottle for my family to hold our drinking water, however i cannot find a link to purchase this specific Mountain Valley Spring Water 5 Gallon Bottle. I understand that it is part of their delivery service so might not be an option to purchase. Do you have any suggestions?
Tamara says
Hi – these are part of a delivery service on the West Coast. I am not sure where you can buy similar bottles – but I know we did buy at least one for our cross country camping trip two years ago – I believe we bought that at a local home-brew store (where people go to make their own beer.)

Pasha- I have four, empty, 5-gallon Mountain Valley bottles that I was about to sell back to them (they charge you for them initially and credit you back with your next order). Im happy to sell them to you if that helps, though. It sure what state you’re in.

Nancy…I’m not sure HOW I missed your response to my message! Thank you. In my desperate attempt to find the bottles, I just signed up for the local water service. Love the bottles…love the water. Thank you so much any, for your help!

By the way, did you test the lid this 5 gallon bottle comes with? I’m looking to purchase one soon.

My son lives in Philadelphia. Can you suggest the safest glass five gallon water bottles and water to be delivered?
Salima Ansari says
was the lid* tested as well?

Hello Tamara,
I’m glad this water bottle tests negative, because it is the only water I drink.
Please could you weigh in on the ceramic “crock” dispenser and plastic tube leading from crock to spigot. Their “dolphin” pump is also plastic, albeit “BPA free”. I am struggling to find a lead-free option for dispensing.
Also, would their 2.5 gallon water bottle also be lead-free?
Many thanks

Daphne, I came on here to ask the SAME EXACT thing! I’m trying to figure out of their crock is really lead-free (and I see so many similar ones for sale on discount websites that it’s making me wary). I’m also wary about plastic because I have one child that’s definitely affected by drinking bottled water from plastic for the past decade (our tap water isn’t great to drink) and I need to help her detox by having no plastic on stuff she constantly drinks from. I’m going in circles, have googled for weeks, and can’t find info ANYWHERE on lead-safe crocks 🙁 I saw a beautiful copper crock, be again, I don’t know what alloys are in there and if there’s lead. Sigh. If you’ve found anything, I’d love the info. Thank you!

Hi!! I’m wondering the same thing about both the ceramic crock and the dolphin pump!
The ceramic crock we have is marketed lead free but I know that doesn’t always mean zero lead!
Thanks you!
Samantha says
I’m also wondering about the ceramic crock dispensers. Thank you!
Tamara says
I haven’t done any specific testing and reporting on the blog. The new ones tend to be low lead and are likely non-leaching. I don’t have enough data points to say there is a brand or style that is consistently Lead-free.
Samantha says
Thanks Tamara! Would you consider an eight-year-old dispenser to be a “new” one? Or do you mean newer than that?
Meredith Carpenter says
Thank you!! Ours did say lead-free…but I’ve learned not to always trust that!!

Hi Tamara, I was wondering if the 2.5 gallon would be the same results. It seems to be the same glass but smaller container.
