I am so floored by how hardcore some defenders of Traditional Medicinals are. WTF.
–
Greenwashing influencers are commenting on our social media pages and our website — persistently defending this company, saying “they are a good company” and asking that we “give them a chance.”
–
The test results for this product clearly demonstrate that this company is simply the embodiment of greenwashing!
–
Selling this product, period, is bad — but selling it as a DETOX protocol is some kind of outrageous.
–
In fact, we are going to report this Traditional Medicinals product to the FDA to see if they might demand a recall given the combined toxicant profile.
–
Compared to the other products shown in the chart above (products which are also bad!), this Traditional Medicinals Organic Dandelion Leaf & Root Tea is so incredibly toxic!
–
The idea of taking more time (and spending more money) to evaluate how much of the heavy metals from this product actually end up in the finished steeped tea (which several people have suggested) is, in my opinion, really NOT an inquiry worth investing in (given the extremely high levels of heavy metals found in this product). Although if anyone wanted to fund this as an academic exercise, we would be happy to organize it — but we really think it is not a valuable use of resources. Recommending that people avoid purchasing and consuming this product is a much simpler course of action!
–
Additionally, we have heard that this company is apparently promoting this product as “free of heavy metals” — several people have shared this with us although I have not yet seen the exact quote in their marketing materials (I have only seen it shared by some of the influencers promoting the product on social media). If you have a screenshot of that statement (directly from the company), please do email it to me at Tamara@LeadSafeMama.com

See below for links to each of these three articles (for more information on the products shown above in our Comparative Dandelion Supplement Beverages Chart).

Each article includes the full original lab report for the product shown. The lab report is always at the very bottom of our articles, after the shareable social media graphic and our Lab-Tested Safer Choices List.

P.S. I just learned the HORRIFIC fact that Traditional Medicinals (which tested positive for high levels of THREE CARCINOGENS) is being recommended as a detox protocol in Facebook communities of people actively dealing with cancer. This leaves me at a loss for words.

I have Chronic Lyme Disease, dealt w mold, heavy metals and EMF toxicity. Last yr diagnosed w ovarian stage 3 cancer. Told Traditional Medicines cleanest least toxic brands. Been drinking the Dandelion/root, Chamomile, Ginger and Matcha (stopped Matcha after one if your reports, esp re: Pique Teas/ Matcha) Wow, I’m blown away by your report. Shame on these companies greenwashing. THANK YOU for all you do!
Wondering if there are any dandelion teas that you do recommend?
Wondering what is the source of the metals? The plant or the processing?
Soil and Fertilizers
Yes, what is a dandelion product you would recommend then please let us know. 🙂
I have been drinking this Dandelion tea, especially the roasted root tea when I feel under the weather for over 20 years. It was recommended by my girl friends who just had babies as a coffee tea substitute when I was pregnant with my baby. I am so sad, shocked and devastated now, as I know the fact that steeping for 15 min (suggested use) in the hot water can exacerbate lead leaching and it is a significant health risk. I cannot believe that I have been using this for such a long time.
But as the other root veggies normally contain the high level of metals, maybe we should avoid anything made from/with plant roots. Thank you Tamara for for your hard work.
