So many people out there think we are “paid off” to do what we do!

| |

Please read the comments on the image above and then read the text below, which I just shared on social media. I also want to note that EACH infographic has the following words on it: “See The Full Lab Reports and Read The Articles on Lead Safe Mama dot com” – or some variation of that text! It’s so frustrating to me sometimes when people don’t bother to read what’s in front of them, and then jump to funny conclusions because they don’t take the time to actually read. #Sigh.

We have just TWO- and only TWO – corporate partners.

Naturepedic and 360 Cookware.

We invited these companies to partner with us after we tested their products and confirmed they met or exceeded our standards.

We are NOT a blogger nor an influencer.

We are SCIENCE EDUCATORS.

Our job is to give you direct-to-consumer science to help you make science-informed decisions for yourself and your families.

Our work is completely directed by all of YOU and funded by all of you (with some help from our noted sponsors). I don’t even know what half of these products you are having us test are! I use NO sunscreen (I cover up with clothing and like to spend my time outside in cold climates – like Scotland in the winter! – where sun exposure is not an issue!) I take NO supplements. I don’t care about that stuff at all for me personally so have zero bias as far as supplements go (except I think supplements are all garbage pretty much, a huge waste of money in most cases)  – we are testing these things for YOU! This is all about YOU!

Here’s our Naturepedic link (this is NOT an affiliate link, we earn NOTHING from your clicks – but if you start your Naturepedic shopping with a click on a Lead Safe Mama link, Naturepedic will know we sent you to their site and they may consider renewing their sponsorship of our work next year – your clicks matter!  They have a 20% off (plus free gifts) Black Friday sale – here’s our link: https://www.naturepedic.com/?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=leadsafemama

The same is true with 360 Cookware. Our link is NOT an affiliate link. We are not earning a percentage of what you spend, but we are hoping that enough people in the Lead Safe Mama community will consider purchasing 360 products this year (cookie sheets, slow cooker, pots and pans, etc.) for gifts or for themselves  – by starting with our link – that 360 Cookware will also consider renewing their sponsorship of our work for next year. Here’s our 360 Cookware link – they have a 30% off Black Friday Sale happening now!   https://www.360cookware.com/s/LSM3

These two companies support our community collaborative outreach work for childhood Lead poisoning prevention and consumer goods safety because they think what we do is awesome AND because these companies are run by incredibly thoughtful and generous people.

We want to return the linky love and encourage you to consider purchasing their products this holiday season because these compaies make high quality, well made, American-made (including Amish-made!) safer products for your family – products I personally am using a home with my family (which is why I invited them to partner with Lead Safe Mama, LLC). It’s a win / win love fest – and it’s our job to be super transparent about all of this while also teaching you about science.

In return we ask that you actually read the article links we share – please take time BEYOND just glancing at the social media graphics – you will benefit from this in the end, your  questions will be answered – it’s all there on the website (which is mostly ad-free to help make it easier for you to read the articles!)

Tamara

P.S. I will add a P.S. since this is going out to a lot of people and someone might be able to help. We are looking for a business loan of about $20,000 to $25,000 to carry us through the winter (and hopefully through to the publishing of the first iteration of our FREE app!)

IF anyone has a lead on an agency or financial institution that might be able to help us with an interest-free or low-interest loan – or even a grant? (maybe an organization that does loans and grants to health focused businesses?) please let us know. We have not been able to get a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (yet!)

Lead Safe Mama, LLC is carrying a debt of just under $300,000 at the moment (about 60% of this debt is related to our federal civil rights case and 40% is related to our laboratory testing initiative). A loan that could consolidate all of this debt would be even better (if that is even possible!) We were founded (officially) in January of 2018, so it would seem we have been around long enough that this may be possible.

Thanks in advance for any referrals!

  1. Such negativity in the world today
I have found LeadSafeMama to be competent, professional, honest and groundbreaking in her approach to the truth about what dangerous heavy metals are in our food, especially to protect the children. I don’t believe for a nanosecond that Tamara Rubin would accept any money to do anything untruthful. I never hesitate to share her wisdom and articles with family, friends, and patients.
Thank you so much for being a blessing to our world, Tamara.
    With much, much gratitude,
    Esther Thaler

  2. There is literally an army of bots scouring Reddit, Youtube and social media simply trying to smear the reputation of Lead Safe Mama LLC and Tamara. These comments are easy to spot and kind of all revolve around the idea that Lead Safe Mama LLC is doing “fear-mongering” (they keep repeating that word or some variant of it) and that this website is profiting off of that. I am pretty sure those are industry paid and just trying to dilute the excellent points that this website is making. Lead Safe Mama LLC uses 3rd party certified, reputable labs and all the certificates are available for every single tested products. This website has been cited by the Guardian, Consumer Reports… Keep doing what you are doing Tamara. Thanks to you we learned about a silent epidemic (the lead contamination of all these products is definitely a silent epidemic). Personally, we made the choice to avoid products containing heavy metals and changed a lot of our consumer habits based on what we learned here. Our family is still struggling to find a fluoridated toothpaste for our baby that does not test positive for heavy metals and a pre natal vitamin that’s not gums and tests clean.

  3. Dear Lead Safe Mama,
if you are looking for a Grant$ try the Bill Gates Foundation in Seattle. They do lots of funding of health and environment related projects.

    1. Thank you. As far as I can tell they don’t accept unsolicited requests, you have to be invited. If you (or anyone) can help me find a link to submit a request (or help me figure out how to get invited to submit) that would be amazing! thank you!

  4. I really appreciate the website and your work, and follow it in many of my consumer choices now (just the strength to fully eliminate chocolate is elusive as of yet…). But the criticisms of the ‘crunchy moms’ seems to be valid? I AM currently on your website (posting here), and all the reports that I see on different products are just the (super useful!) infographics where you report the respective levels and then compare it to the proposed maximum levels. But I didn’t see a link to/copy of the actual reports you must be received from the labs. I have seen those posted as COAs for some products and they do seem more official than what you post.
In that sense they are right that you SAY that they are third party tested (and I believe you) but theoretically you could make up those numbers and fill them into that infographic and we wouldn’t know, or the lab you use is your neighbor’s chemistry set or whatever. To meet this criticism, couldn’t you just post a copy of the actual lab reports? Or is there a problem that you don’t want to publish which labs you are using? Please correct me if I am wrong about the actual reports (beyond your graphics) being posted, and I am just overlooking them in the product reports.

In any case, as said, I appreciate the work immensely!

  5. OK, never mind, lack of sleep. I now looked AGAIN and you do say where the report is — BELOW the safer choices lists!! Ok, since this is happening to me (and I looked several times, and even now had to search in your often rather long posts) maybe you could highlight this better (bigger lettering or sth) or simply post it directly under the infographics?
IN any case — sorry for the confusion and keep doing the work you’re doing

    1. We say it multiple time in each article – one time is usually near the very top of the article. It’s also usually a second time – near the top – in a header font and in blue. But we also say it right above that in the text of most of the articles. Look at the Starburst article (which is a shorter article). We also say it WITHIN the safer choices list text (third time): https://tamararubin.com/2025/11/starburst-fruit-chews-favreds/

First mention – in the body of the article:

“Please scroll down for the sharable social media graphic with the lab test results for this product, and scroll to the very bottom of the article (below the full list of Lab Tested Safer Choices) for the full original lab report for this product.”

Second mention – right below that, in blue highlighted header text:

“The full original lab report for this product is at the very bottom of this article, below the shareable social media graphics and our Lab-Tested Safer Choices List. Please do scroll down to check it out!”

Third mention – in the body of the safer choices list text – as a bulleted point:

“The limits of detection (low-threshold of detection) for each of the metals tested are noted in the lab report for each specific product. To see the full, original lab report for any of these products, type the brand or product name into the search bar at the top of any page on Lead Safe Mama dot com and scroll down to the bottom of the related article.”

    2. The idea with it being at the bottom is that people might actually read the article first. But also it is consistently at the very bottom, so people can always scroll to the very bottom if they don’t want to read the article. The app will have NO articles and ZERO explanation or interpretation – so that will be another option.

  6. Tamara, please check out the Kirsch Foundation. They do give grants, and this is not a lot of money to ask! Steve Kirsch is fearless and unafraid of big corporations, plus, you fit some of their grant categories. I hope this is helpful, and if I think of any others, will let you know. I just read this now, so I will think on this a bit. Thank YOU for all the time, heart and $$$ you put into this site, to help others. xx from Nova Scotia
