doTerra’s Latest Response, also not good enough!
One of my readers shared this with me today:
“We appreciate your dedication to dōTERRA and sincerely appreciate your patience as we reviewed your request for information and awaited scientific testing results to ensure that our information is current and accurate. As you will see from the attached report(report under “Files” screenshot below) from Puzhen Life USA, LLC, dōTERRA’s Petal Diffuser is in full compliance, and even exceeds much stricter FDA Food and Drug testing standards.
We sincerely care about the overall health and wellness of all who use dōTERRA Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® quality essential oils and value outside review of our products to ensure superior quality standards. In fact, our product team works diligently to upgrade diffusers and other offerings as new components become available or better solutions exist.”
Again a statement (with supporting documentation) that does not refute nor specifically deny the fact that these diffusers have a leaded component, but tries to reassure the customer that things are ok because they comply with FDA regs for Lead (even though they have a leaded component!)
Why can’t these companies just say “Oops, my bad — we didn’t know the ring was leaded; we’ll fix that right away!”
Well in this case (with doTerra), the report below is from December of 2017, so I guess they presumably DID know they had a Leaded component – or they wouldn’t have been testing for leachable Lead at that time!
As always, thanks for reading!

Thank you for this information. This makes me wonder further about the difference between merely the presence of lead and leachability in lead. At what point is lead in our products leachable? I’m wondering specifically about things that we eat or drink out of or touch.
Company also charges 300% over wholesale. It is owned by YL. Consumers have some how gotten the idea that paying more means they are purer. If you are knowledgable about oils, you can recognize which are more condusive to health and which are simply for aromatherapy. They are two different things. But in my opinion, YL and Doterra are price gouging the consumers.
DoTERRA is not owned by Young Living. Get your facts straight before sharing your opinion.
Dt is not owned by young living!!!! Yl owns there farms . DT was started by people that left young living to start their own company.
Agreed. DoTERRA was started 10 years ago as an independent company from Young Living. Please make sure you have your facts correct.
Also, wholesale on this diffuser is $47, while retail is $62.66. These facts are very easy to look up. Please make sure you are posting factual information.
You do know metal will have lead… your car will have lead or the medal leg of a coffee table. Brass WILL have traces of lead. Just because it’s there and able to be traced does not make it bad. Hence the fda has regulations of the amounts that are able to be “found” because true metal will have lead.
Nope.
This is very interesting because I am currently looking to buy a Diffuser for my daughter for Christmas. Do you have any recommendations ? I would probably have ordered from DT thinking it was clean. Thank you for any suggestions Julie
Hi Julie,
Most of the USB charged diffusers I have tested have been Lead-free. This includes some $20 ones from Target and I think one from Rocky Mountain Herbs. Click the link at the top of the page for the category to see all of the diffuser posts – there are at least two lead-free models mentioned in this posts.
