Tamara Rubin is a multiple-Federal-award-winning independent advocate for childhood Lead-poisoning prevention and consumer goods safety, and a documentary filmmaker. She is also a mother of Lead-poisoned children (two of her sons were acutely Lead-poisoned in 2005). Since 2009, Tamara has been using XRF technology (a scientific method used by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission) to test consumer goods for toxicants (specifically heavy metals — including Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Antimony, and Arsenic). All test results reported on this website are science-based, accurate, and replicable. Items are tested multiple times to confirm the test results for each component tested. Tamara’s work was featured in Consumer Reports Magazine in February of 2023 (March 2023 print edition).

If you have been following the work of Lead Safe Mama, LLC for a while now you know that we measure our success in page views. Page views on our website are a direct measure of how many people this work is helping, when we are helping them, and where they live — along with what information they access and find useful.
Our reach and impact have been growing steadily over the past 10 years (since we started this website) and we are close to fulfilling our sustainability goal: the point at which the Lead Safe Mama website readership earns enough (through advertising and affiliate revenue) to cover all the costs of the work we are doing here so we can keep doing what we do.
Three out of the past 12 months have achieved our sustainability goal, which is now measured in the range of 775,000 to 1.5 million page views. In May, January, and March of 2023 — the months with yellow stars on the graphic above — the work we completed and shared earned enough to cover continuing costs of future goals, so we know they are possible … but THIS MONTH SUCKS.
At the rate things are going for April, we will likely see about 420,000 page views (how poetic, for April!) and that’s not enough to cover our costs. We have set an “interim goal” for April 2023 to at least be the #BestAprilEver in page views — this means we would need to see 443,000 unique page views for the month (to surpass April 2022). And, at the current rate, we are even going to fall short of that goal.
And so … I am enlisting YOUR help. I will also reward success (paying it forward to the community) if we are able to meet and maintain Lead Safe Mama readership goals!
HOW TO PLAY/HOW TO ENTER FOR A CHANCE TO WIN:
I am hereby pledging I will give away ONE home consultation for each remaining month in 2023 that we reach or exceed 1,000,000 page views during that month. Alternately, if we don’t reach 1,000,000 page views but only reach or pass 600,000 page views (for any of the remaining months of this calendar year), I will instead give away FOUR (one-hour) Zoom consultations to participants chosen at random.
The goal here is incentivizing this community into sharing links to Lead Safe Mama articles, which helps us boost our readership (in spite of F*books recent “censorship”/“reach restrictions” on our work if we don’t pay to advertise).
So here’s how to enter for a chance to win….
- You have to be subscribed to the Lead Safe Mama email newsletter. Winners will be randomly selected from the list of email newsletter subscribers (you need to subscribe with your REAL email address because that is how we will notify you that you won). Here’s the link to subscribe.
- Once you have subscribed please share as many Lead Safe Mama article links as you are comfortable sharing over the course of the month (don’t spam your friends, but share things you find interesting and that you think may interest them!) both to inform your community, friends, and family and to help us reach our goals.
A random drawing for the winner(s) will be done at the end of each month (the first of the month on the following month) for each month that we reach (or pass) either of the two readership goals: 600,000 or 1,000,000 page views. Preliminary winners will be chosen from our newsletter subscriber list and once they have been picked we will ask them to share with us the link to a social media post in which they shared about the work of Lead Safe Mama for the month in question (this will confirm their eligibility to win). And that’s it!
