You can buy organic cotton face masks for your family and support my advocacy work at the same time!
While I have been loving all of the amazing creative hand-made face masks (and thanks so much to my friend Jennifer who made a bunch for my family!), my older boys and I also really like the face masks made by my corporate-partner Naturepedic. The company that made the supercomfy organic mattress that I sleep on every night has been making face masks since very close to the start of the pandemic.
Why is a mattress company making face masks?
The owner of Naturepedic explained they chose to do this to help others; to keep their employees employed; and to help keep their customers as safe as possible — by using the excellent resources already available to their company (high-quality natural organic cotton fabric, industrial sewing machines, and skilled employees!).
They also did this to help their partners, like me!
In addition to supporting their workers during this time, by repurposing a significant-portion of their [Amish-run] factory to make organic cotton face masks, Naturepedic came up with pricing for a pack of 6 organic cotton masks that does not make a profit for their company, but does pay their workers – and their affiliates (like myself) for getting the word out to the public about their masks. For each pack of 6 Naturepedic face masks my readers buy from here on out, I earn a commission of $7.35.
I am so appreciative of your support (you my readers) and of Naturepedic’s support of my advocacy work during this complicated time. It’s also a no-brainer for me to share with my readers about a product that I know and personally use and appreciate, a product that is competitively priced AND made of organic / non-toxic materials. Naturepedic’s actions have helped so many during this difficult time, with such a simple idea (ahead of so many other companies who instead seized this as an opportunity to make a profit – using low-paid labor and/or synthetic and otherwise inferior materials.)
Naturepedic is continuing to sell a pack of 6 organic cotton face masks at their cost ($49.00 – their cost went up a bit – because of the increase in costs related to manufacturing due to the pandemic – but they are still just covering their costs with their pricing.) $49 for 6 face masks with free shipping is comparable with other companies selling masks not made of comfortable, breathable, organic cotton!
What I also love about these face masks is that they are blank canvas for decorating and personalizing (if that’s your jam!) — I have sent a handful of them to a fabric artist friend to tie-dye for me, and I will post the results of that experiment here as soon as I have them (I can’t wait to see them!)
What if it’s not the right fit for you?
The thing that has also been really great about the Naturepedic face masks is that the owner of the company has been incredibly responsive to feedback from my readers. So if you do purchase their masks, and for some reason they aren’t a great solution for someone in your family, please let me know (send me an e-mail!), and I will see what we can do to fix that!
Save the planet too!
Washable, reusable, organic cotton!
I don’t know if you have seen the recent articles about disposable masks and gloves already showing up in the trash of our oceans (one link here!) but using a washable cloth mask is a great way to help protect the planet too. The Naturepedic face masks are of course washable and reusable — simply toss them in the laundry when you return home to ensure you always have fresh masks on hand. Note: the cotton is not pre-shrunk so, depending on the shape and size of your face, they may be a little big when they first arrive but are more form-fitting after the first wash.
Here’s my affiliate link to purchase face masks from Naturepedic. Picture on this page is my son A.J. wearing one with just his name written on the side. We wrote the name of each person in the family on their mask (for starters) to help keep them straight. Decorating them is our next project (in addition to the ones we are tie dyeing.)
Thank you for reading my blog and thank you for sharing my posts!
As always, please let me know if you have any questions!
