Hi Georgia friends!
Yesterday afternoon I got an e-mail letting me know that I have been nominated for an award!
The award is being given out in a ceremony at the ShiftCon social media conference this year in Georgia (which will be held in Atlanta on October 3-4-5). While, I won’t find out if I have won the award until the award ceremony (On October 5th), it’s an honor just to be nominated!
As part of the nomination, I will be receiving a free VIP pass to the ShiftCon conference (yay! I get to hang with all my environmental blogger friends!) I also get a pass for a friend to come with me to the award ceremony [who wants to be my guest at the event?!]
As with many similar advocacy awards, I do have to find a sponsor to help cover my transportation to the conference and lodging during the conference – so I am putting that out to the universe here, in case someone wants to help me cover this “side trip”, which will end up costing me about $400 in flights (if I can book them this week) and $400 in lodging (plus I would love to have a rental car while I am there so I could hop around the area a bit and visit some of you – my readers – in the area!)
Gee…seems I recall a really cool nonprofit that used to provide grants to cover lodging and transportation for advocates to attend conferences in just this sort of situation! 😉 Unfortunately that nonprofit was needlessly destroyed… #Sigh.
I hope to see some of you in Georgia! And if I can coordinate things, I will try to fit in some home consultations while I am there – in fact if I can line up one or two home consultations that would help cover my trip there, so please let me know if you are interested in a visit with me when I come to town.
Thanks everyone for supporting my advocacy journey – over the past three years especially!
